SECTION VIII, NYSPHSAA BOYS & GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

OVERVIEW FOR 2005

Girls Coordinator: Katie Dunne              Boys & Running Coordinator: Bob Baratta   Invitationals

Conferences are aligned by enrollment. Conference quad and tri meets decide the Conference and Division Championships.  The Conference Meet format remains the same, and teams and individuals will qualify for the  Sec.8/State Qualifier Meet the as in past years. This  meet provides Open Section VIII Championships- teams and individuals, and Classification Team and Individual Champions- who are the qualifiers for the State Meet with  the new- 5-class breakdown.  .  The State Meet now has five classes. Numbers are balanced statewide, but are very skewed in our section.  State Classes-AA-FREE TO HERR;   A-CAL TO VSS;   B-SEA TO MALV;   C-WHT TO FRNDS;   D-NO ‘D’ SCHOOLS. Five classes produce a very skewed breakdown for Section VIII!

Qualifying – Top 6 teams and top 5 individuals not on those teams advance to Open/St Q.

, Specials cases are usually accepted to advance. Awards are on an individual and team basis.

Boys and Girls teams compete on the same day, same site.  Pairings of conferences are different each week, so the day a school competes, and the schools they run with, varies each week. Schools are limited to two competitions each calendar week. Ten days of practice are required before the first meet.  Schools are responsible to complete league schedules.  We will continue our increased security, safety, and medical policies, and 4K the first 2  weeks- initiated last year. We utilize our website for results from tri/quad meets and invitation, and notices. . ADDRESS – sectionviiixctf.com. Webmaster:Bob Beer
