Ten practices are required before the first meet or scrimmage. Each athlete is permitted to participate in 16* contests exclusive of the Section Championship, the State Qualifier, and the State Meet. Each athlete must have competed in 6 sanctioned school meets representing his school to be eligible for the Sectional and State Meets. The Conference Meets determine a Conference Champion and Runner-up team. The Class County A & B meets determine Class Champions and Runner-up teams. The State Qualifier meet is open only and determines individuals and relays teams that qualify to compete in the State Meet. The Section VIII Crossover meets are the first three meets of the season - no medals are awarded. Each team will have three crossover meets at SCCC in December and first week in January. (All dates not available at this time- they will be faxed to all schools when they become available.)

the season starts. . IN PAST, SCHOOLS
HAVE ADDED OR DROPPED AFTER THE START OF THE SEASON – SOMETIMES SCHOOLS THAT
DROPPED NOTIFIED NO ONE UNTIL THEY WERE BILLED! REMINDER: SCHOOLS THAT DO NOT
FIELD A TEAM ARE LIMITED TO THREE INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN COMPETE DURING THE ENTIRE
SEASON – NOT THREE AT A TIME. THESE ATHLETES COMPETE IN THEIR ENROLLMENT GROUP.
CAN WIN MEDALS BUT DO NOT SCORE TEAM POINTS, AND THEY CAN QUALIFY FOR THE
SECTION/STATE MEET PROVIDED THEY MEET THE SAME QUALIFICATION CRITERIA AS ALL
OTHER ATHLETES. THIS IS COVERED IN THE
WT COACHES GUIDE WHICH IS DISTRIBUTED AT THE START OF THE SEASON. individual athletes must have a certified
coach and notify coordinators in writing.
